release/renew my IP Address from my DSL Modem?
This may be needed if you have cycled (powered off and then powered on) your DSL Modem. In this event, your computer's IP Address will need to be "refreshed". To do this, follow the simple steps below:
Windows XP (Home and Professional)
- Click Start, and then choose the Run option.
- In the window that appears, type control and then click the OK button.
- Your computer's Control Panel should appear. Double click the Network Connections icon.
If You do not see a 'Network Connections' icon, look for 'Network and Internet Connections', and then click on the 'Network Connections' option.
- Click the Local Area Connection shortcut.
- In the Local Area connection Status window, choose the Support tab.
- Click the Repair button.
It can take up to 2 minutes for the repair process to complete. Please wait for the confirmation dialoge before continuing.
- When finished, the IP Address field should start with 192.168. If it does not, or the repair toold finishes with an error, trouble shoot with tech support for connectivity problems.
