How Dial Up Works
A dial up connection relies on a modem to communicate with the internet. The word "modem" is actually an abreviation of the words modulator-demodulator. The customers dail up modem modulates the data into a signal that the phone line can understand, and then DTC's equipment demodulate's the signal back into data and forwards it off to the internet.
